How to Add Hotmail or Outlook.com to Apple Mail on Mac
Add your Microsoft Hotmail, Live, or Outlook.com account to Apple Mail on your Mac in just a few clicks.
Apple Mail supports Microsoft accounts (Hotmail, Live, Outlook.com) natively through the Exchange protocol, which gives you email, contacts, and calendar sync all at once.
Add Your Microsoft Account in Apple Mail
- Open System Settings → Internet Accounts.
- Click + and choose Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter your Hotmail/Outlook.com address and your name, then click Sign In.
- Sign in through the Microsoft login page that appears.
- Choose which data to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendars) and click Done.
Alternative — IMAP setup: If Exchange doesn't work, go to Mail → Add Account → Other Mail Account and use the IMAP settings below.
