How to Add Gmail to iPhone Mail App (iOS Setup Guide)
Add your Gmail account to the iPhone Mail app in seconds. iOS has built-in Gmail support — no server settings needed.
Your iPhone's built-in Mail app supports Gmail natively. You can add a Gmail account in under a minute without configuring any servers manually.
Add Gmail to iPhone Mail App
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap Mail.
- Tap Accounts → Add Account.
- Select Google from the list.
- A Google sign-in page will appear. Enter your Gmail address and password.
- If prompted, complete Google's two-step verification.
- Choose what to sync: Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Notes.
- Tap Save. Your Gmail inbox appears in the Mail app.
Prefer the Gmail app? Download Gmail from the App Store — it offers more Gmail-specific features like labels, categories, and Google Meet integration.
Gmail IMAP Settings (Manual — if needed)
| Setting | Incoming (IMAP) | Outgoing (SMTP) |
|---|---|---|
| Server | imap.gmail.com | smtp.gmail.com |
| Port | 993 | 587 |
| Security | SSL | TLS |

| Password | App Password (if 2FA is on) or regular password | |
Troubleshooting
- "Cannot get mail" error — Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → your Gmail account and toggle Mail off and back on.
- Sign-in fails — Make sure you're using an App Password if Google 2-Step Verification is enabled.
- Emails not updating — Settings → Mail → your Gmail → Account → Fetch New Data and set to Push or a shorter fetch interval.
