Apple Mail on Mac has native support for Gmail — you don't need to look up any server settings. The built-in Google account option handles everything automatically.
Method 1: Add Gmail via System Settings (Recommended)
- On your Mac, open System Settings (Apple menu → System Settings).
- Scroll down and click Internet Accounts.
- Click the + button, then choose Google.
- A Google sign-in window will open — enter your Gmail address and password.
- Grant the required permissions when asked.
- Make sure Mail is enabled in the account settings.
- Open Apple Mail — your Gmail inbox will appear automatically.
Method 2: Add Gmail Manually via IMAP
If you prefer manual setup or the above method doesn't work:
- In Apple Mail, go to Mail → Add Account.
- Choose Other Mail Account and click Continue.
- Enter your Gmail address and password, then click Sign In.
- If asked, enter the IMAP settings from the table below.
