How to Add Yandex Mail to Microsoft Outlook
Configure your Yandex.Mail account in Microsoft Outlook with IMAP. Includes the required Yandex settings and correct server details.
Contents
Yandex Mail is a full-featured email service that works perfectly with Outlook via IMAP. Before you start, you need to enable IMAP access inside your Yandex account — this is disabled by default.
Step 1: Enable IMAP in Yandex Mail
- Open mail.yandex.com and sign in.
- Click the Settings gear icon → All settings.
- Select Email clients from the left menu.
- Check the box "From the email client" under the IMAP section.
- Click Save.
Important: Yandex may require you to create an app password if you use two-factor authentication. Go to Yandex Passport → Security → App passwords.
Step 2: Add Yandex Mail in Outlook
- Open Outlook → File → Add Account.
- Enter your Yandex email address and click Connect.
- Choose IMAP when asked to select a provider.
- Enter the server details from the table below.
- Enter your password and click Connect.
Yandex Mail Server Settings for Outlook
| Setting | Incoming Mail (IMAP) | Outgoing Mail (SMTP) |
|---|---|---|
| Server | imap.yandex.com | smtp.yandex.com |
| Port | 993 | 465 |
| Encryption | SSL / TLS | SSL / TLS |
| Username | Your full Yandex address (e.g. [email protected]) | |
| Password | Your Yandex password (or App Password if 2FA is on) | |
Troubleshooting
- "Authentication failed" — Confirm IMAP is enabled in Yandex settings and that you're using the correct password or App Password.
- Connection error on port 465 — Some corporate firewalls block port 465. Try SMTP port 587 with STARTTLS as an alternative.
